Ms. Margaret Gatti of Texas, USA, sadly passed away on 14 February 2026, aged 112 years, 57 days.

She was born in Texas, USA, on 19 December 1913. She died on the same day as Santos Fierro (23 July 1913 - 14 February 2026), so it's unknown if she was either the second or oldest living person in the U.S. state of Texas at the time of her passing.

Rest in Peace Ms. Gatti.

R.I.P. Ms. Gatti.

When the young commander of the guard declared his love for her, she rejected him simply because his frivolity startled her. "See how simple he is," she told Amaranta. "He says that he’s dying because of me, as if I were a bad case of colic."

American Woman Margaret Gatti Dies at 112

Margaret Gatti, a resident of Houston, Texas, USA, passed away on 14 February, at the age of 112 years, 57 days.

Margaret Gatti was born in League City, Texas, on 19 December 1913. She was the eldest child of Guiseppe and Maria Daro. Her parents emigrated from Cercenasco, Italy, and settled in League City in 1904. She attended school through the third grade before working alongside her parents and siblings on the family farm.

In 1933, she married Italian-born Louis Victor Gatti. The couple made their home in Houston, where they raised their two daughters. Following the unexpected death of her husband in 1951, Margaret assumed full responsibility for owning, managing, and maintaining several real estate properties. Despite having only a third-grade education, she proved to be a savvy and highly successful businesswoman.

A devout Catholic, she was an active and dedicated member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church.

She passed away on the same day as Santos Fierro, 112, the oldest living person in Texas. It remains unknown whether Gatti outlived her; had she done so, she would have been the oldest person in Texas for less than a day.
