Rosa Elena Pinzón, the oldest living person in Ecuador, passed away in Quito on 28 April, at the age of 113 years, 30 days.
Rosa Elena Pinzón was born in Nambacola, Gonzanamá, Loja Province, Ecuador, on 29 March 1913 (claimed 26 June). She worked as a seamstress and was married to Luis Antonio Villacres Matailo. Together, they had 12 children: Amada, Olga, Cleotilde, Dioselina, Carlos, Armando, Alfonso, Manuel, Gloria, José, Magdalena, and Rosalina.
At the age of 73, she left her home in Surunuma, a hamlet within Nambacola, and later moved to Quito.
LongeviQuest previously listed her with a birthdate of 31 May 1914, based on evidence available at the time. However, new evidence has since been discovered indicating that she was born on 29 March 1913—over a year earlier than previously believed. Her case is currently under review.
Rest in peace.

When the young commander of the guard declared his love for her, she rejected him simply because his frivolity startled her. "See how simple he is," she told Amaranta. "He says that he’s dying because of me, as if I were a bad case of colic."
