Alphaeus Philemon Cole (12 July 1876 – 25 November 1988) was an American artist who was the world's oldest living man and the oldest living person in the United States at the time of his death, aged 112 years, 136 days.
I found a video of him being interviewed at the age of 104:
I'll repost the gallery I originally posted on the 110 club:

Given how rare it is nowadays for American men of Northern/Western European descent to reach 112, the fact that Mr. Cole lived to be almost 112.5 in the 1980s, being quite notable, is very, very incredible.

He was actual the oldest validated man ever at the time of his death since Shigechiyo Izumi and Mathew Beard were debunked. It's sad that he didn't get the attention he deserved for his extraordinary longevity while he was alive.

@record_116 note that James King was with very high likelihood older than Mr. Cole, making him the second oldest known man ever at the time.
