A distant cousin of mine, Edward Flint Walcott, was born on June 2, 1830 in Shrewsbury, Massachusetts, and passed away on January 11, 1938 in Everett, Massachusetts at the age of 107 years, 223 days. There is a lot of documentation supporting his age. I hope Mr. Walcott’s age can be validated. He would have been the world’s oldest person at the time of his death being 3 years older than Anna Wheeler.

Charles, you could reach out to Guinness World Records, as he was a WOP candidate and you have lots of documentation supporting his age 🙂

Be kind to everyone. Treat everyone like they're your own family. Don't judge others. Accept everyone for who they are regardless of what they do or look like.

I checked all the public records I could find for Mr. Walcott.

Shrewsbury, Massachusetts birth index - indicates Edward Flint Walcott was born June 2, 1830, son of Eli and Mary.

1850 Census - age 20 as of October 8, 1850 - supports June 2, 1830

1860 Census - age 30 as of July 6, 1860 - supports June 2, 1830

1880 Census - age 45 as of June 4, 1880 - supports June 2, 1835

1900 Census - age 69 as of June 7, 1900 and states born June 1830

1910 Census - age 79 as of April 20, 1910 - supports June 2, 1830

1920 Census - age 89 as of January 1, 1920 - supports June 2, 1830

1930 Census - age 100 as of April 3, 1930 - supports June 2, 1829

1938 obituary - passed away at age 107 on January 11, 1938; states born June 2, 1830

All in all, I strongly believe that he was indeed the age claimed, and was therefore the world’s oldest person when he passed away in 1938.

What a fascinating find! I hope you can eventually have your distant cousin validated, @charlesm09!
