  • July 27th was the last time the list was complete with 111+ people.
  • June 11th was the last time we had 3 people aged 112+ on the list.
  • Lucia Laura is the first person to reach 115 years old in Italy since Maria Giuseppa Robucci, who turned 115 on March 20, 2018.

@chrisr Giovanni Frau (from 14 May to 19 June 2003);

Antonio Todde (from 4 Feb 1999 to 3 Jan 2002);

Antonio Baldo (from 6 Jan to 28 Aug 1998) etc.

But no men as OLP in Italy in the last 22,5 years.

Thank you Ale.

22.5 years - sadly that resembles male longevity trends in general, where the all time oldest have slipped well down the overall rankings and rarely been replaced by newer ones coming through.

I’d have guessed Antonio Todde, given he nearly made 113; but clearly the other two also made excellent ages; given the years in which they were born.

The most interesting aspect of the current top 10 is not just having a male as high as 3; but also that he is almost 2 and 3.3 years younger than second and first respectively.

The odds remain against Mr Lovallo becoming the oldest Italian person, … but who knows, given the above data.

Delio Venturotti was also the oldest Italian-born person at the time of his death, although he of course only lived in Italy for a few years. He also was never naturalized in Brazil, so he was still legally a citizen of Italy.

Thank you Mendocino.

It appears Mr Venturotti may have been the oldest “Italian born” supercentenarian at the relevant time

- rather than the oldest “Italian” supercentenarian,

based on the core nationalities we typically attribute to persons who moved countries in their lives.
