Gunborg Hancock was born on 20 April 1912 in Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland.

She was born as Gunborg Westling and she married George Londen (1910–1940) who died in winter war.
In 1943 she married the painter and ceramicist Robert Hancock (1912–1993). She and Robert divorced in 1958, and Ms. Hancock later returned to Stockholm. She had no children.

Ms. Hancock became the oldest known living person in Sweden, following the death of 112-year-old Ms. Lagerlund, on 9 April 2022.
Following the death of 110-year-old Ms. Qvist, on 18 July 2022, she became the oldest known living Finnish-born person and the oldest living person in Nordic Countries.

She is the 4th Oldest Person Ever lived in Sweden behind Ms. Zachrison (113), Ms. Moberg (112.4) and Ms. Johansson (112.3).

As of June 21, 2024, she lives in Lilla Essingen, Stockholm, Sweden.
