She is already pending on GRG - she was listed in the GRG's list of semi-supercentenarians until today. She will likely be the first validated supercentenarian to live in Turkey!

Happy birthday Muazzez İlmiye Çığ!

Which is an absolute joke – I heavily doubt they have any documentation for her. Turkey didn't even adopt the Gregorian calendar until 1926, so who knows what her exact birthday is in our calendar. But given her life story, it is evident she is around her claimed age of 110.

Happy birthday to Muazzez İlmiye Çığ!

@024tomi her name has mysteriously disappeared from the GRG's list of pending SCs (after it was presumably automatically transferred after she reached her 110th birthday)

The GRG has published an article on her birthday.

Quote, emphasis mine:

On 20 June 2024, she celebrated her 110th birthday, becoming the first undisputed female supercentenarian in Turkey, as well as the second supercentenarian ever recorded in Turkey, after World War I veteran Yakup Satar (11 March 1898 – 2 April 2008) who died at the age of 110 years, 22 days

Let's not forget the word PROBABLY.

GRG is and unreliable source.

@ale76 they added that! It was not on the article when I copied from it. They are clearly reading these threads and reacting!

They are clearly reading these threads and reacting!

That's also how they've freely received documentation from your latest research for Ilse Meingast, Rose Girone and all.

Overduidelijk misschien.

Secondly; thank you very much for the feedback on the apparent activities of the GRG.

Please keep details of this type coming through this forum or the 110 Club; where you have reason to believe that the work of others may be being plagiarised, or worse. Please keep the feedback objective, wherever you can.

Direct efforts have, and are still being made, to resolve this issue in a harmonious way with “leading figure(s)” of this group. Should these prove fruitless then other avenues certainly exist.

We want each of you to be recognised and respected for your own work. At this moment, clear communication of these issues is of major assistance to us, in getting to this goal.

My apologies to the Admin team if you believe this post may be better placed elsewhere on the Forum. But it needs some sensible prominence if possible please.

@chrisr I think that your post is fine. And I hope that something results from the effort that has been made.
