Ina Okazawa was born on 10 March 1910 and lives in Toride, Ibaraki Prefecture, Japan. Previously anonymous, she succeeded Seki Yoshida as the oldest person in Ibaraki Prefecture

She is the eleventh-oldest person in the world and fourth-oldest in Japan, and despite being nearly 114, is essentially not even the oldest person with her name (also her and Canabarro's names are from different languages likely with different origins)

She was born exactly ten years after Violet Brown; similar to Masa Matsumoto with Emma Morano

This is great news for 1910 which has already lost five, 113+ year olds at this early stage of 2024, plus another three, from mid November, until the end of 2023.

Ina Okazawa becomes the oldest verified living person from 1910, and the second oldest verified person born in 1910, behind Seki Yoshida at this stage.

Happy 114th Birthday, Ina Okazawa of Ibaraki prefecture, Japan. What she and Violet Brown have in common is not only that they were born exactly 10 years apart, but also that the population of Ibaraki Prefecture, where she lives, and Jamaica, are very the same.

It is very rare for her to gain the title of being the oldest person in the Japanese prefecture just before age of 114. Usually, an age for becoming the oldest person in the prefecture is 110 or 111. I think this has only happened in one case before: Tane Yonekura, with a huge age of 113 years and 355 days, she finally become oldest living person in Kagoshima prefecture after the death of Nabi Tajima.

But there is one more crazy case in Japanese history, that one woman living until 115 years and 40 days and she never had the status of OLP in even her prefecture, because she is always in shadow of Kane Tanaka of Fukuoka prefecture. - This is similer with Edie Ceccarelli, who until her death never had a status of the oldest living person born in the U.S. state of California.

You're forgetting someone important from Hyogo Prefecture who took the title in 2022

Yasue Okai and Pearl Berg both died at the age of 114 as the second-oldest in their state/prefecture, behind Fusa and Edie respectively
