Antoinette Barrack, the Doyenne of Seychelles, Celebrates 106th Birthday

Antoinette Barrack, the oldest (known) living person in the Seychelles, celebrated her 106th birthday on 8 January in Cascade. Her birthday was first reported by the Office of the President.

President Wavel Ramkalawan and First Lady Linda Ramkalawan joined family and friends to celebrate Mrs. Barrack’s 106th birthday. She is said to continue inspiring those around her with her vibrant spirit, sharp memory, and delightful sense of humor.

Mrs. Barrack was born on 8 January 1919. It was reported last year that she is a mother of three. She had two sons, Paul and Philippe, and a daughter, Gemma, who resides abroad. She also has nine grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Since 1980, she has been living in Cascade.

On 1 June 2024, following the passing of 108-year-old Noemie Benoit, also from Cascade, she became the nation’s oldest living resident.
