@sailor-haumea I'm not sure, but we'll see how her case ends. There is a possibility of sampling the identity, 115 years is not an ordinary case of 110 or 111, so it is necessary to check in more detail, so when it is Validated, then I can add it to the list. I guess the documentation is not complete for now...

Colonel General, Captain of the Romanian Army Mr. Constantin Năstase (born on 3 June 1915), is currently the fourth oldest living person in Romania, as well as currently the second oldest living man in Romania. He was also a participant in the Second World War.

Officially the oldest war II veteran and man in Romania has been confirmed to be alive at 109.

Ilie Ciocan, a war veteran of the Romanian army, turned 109 years on 28 May 2022 and was lives in the municipality of Galicea in the county of Valcea. He last appeared in public at the age of 103. He hasn't gotten out of bed in the last 4 years.

He is currently the second oldest living person in Romania, he is also the OLDEST LIVING MAN IN ROMANIA as of 15 February 2021.

Mihai Șora (born 7 November 1916), Romanian philosopher and essayist. Celebrating his 106th birthday.

He is probably the oldest active Facebook user. Traditional photo shoot every year at the same time with number 5 on 105th birthday 2021 and with number 6 on 106th birthday 2022.

@ale76 what are the question marks for Ilie Ciocan and Maria Mihai?

Maria's daughter turned 85 in September, and Ilie Tsiocan is a veteran of the Second World War and was awarded by the highest state leadership.

Also, there have never been any false and exaggerated cases in Romania. And I don't see the purpose of checking these cases when they are under 110 years old, and Maria Mihai has a baptismal certificate, her grandson confirmed to me more than a year ago, yesterday I asked him if he collected all the documentation, the answer was that Maria died in in February 2022. My response was, my condolences for the delay and thanks for the information and no documentation needed to be submitted as she passed away before she turned 110.

@dejan I personally prefer all extreme age claims to be documented. Even a 109-year-old can have an exaggerated age.

@930310 Do you think everyone listed on the list of oldest living people in Italy (107+) is documented (it's impossible and based on what journalists publish). To me, every other centenarian from any part of the world is the same as the one who lives in Romania, Italy or America, except if there is evidence that someone is younger. In these cases, the documentation is saved and exists, the only problem is that it is difficult to find it, since it is not available online. If anyone has a daughter or son 85+ I don't understand how they could possibly exaggerate their age, plus there is a newspaper report about the 100th birthday as well as photos...

Realistically, what is the Romanian population, it is quite certain that there are a few more cases of 110+ (only two or three so far).

Is that why you deliberately fabricate birthdays for Balkan supercentenarian claims so that they're just under 110 that way, and suddenly become true?

@024tomi That's another story, it's all been corrected so far and there's no more incorrect information. That's exactly why I stick with what the news report says. in every part of the world there was a person who claims to have been 147+ years old and so also in Romania and this does not mean that all centenarians are false and exaggerated if, for example, there are one or more exaggerated claims as there were in every other part of the world, but apparently individuals hate it.The Balkan people in general treat their cases that way, which is wrong.

@dejan All 108-year-old Swedes that I list on my lists are documented. Gunborg Hancock is no exception despite being unvalidated. The only reason that she isn't validated yet is because I have poor economy and am not paying €55 for a transcription of a document that the Finnish church has confirmed that they have.

@930310 That's right, that's nice, but there's still no reason to consider it as a questionable case, because it's currently undocumented (it's enough to mark it with another color, red or orange). I guess she had at least an ID card. She is only unverifiied not questionable, only unverifiied or unvalidated and nothing else just like every other similar true case.

That's why I compiled this list before the end of 2022 for the purpose of recording the number of people from Romania 108 years or older. The next update is at the end of 2023.

It can be seen that the number of male centenarians in Romania is constantly increasing, while the number of male centenarians in the Czech Republic is in a sharp decline, and so on...

I am thankful, Dejan, that you are working consequently for our forum. Without your posting I would have never found this interesting news about Romania. Thx!

I think we all should be very careful not to slow down motivation of other members with public statements.

@stoa-oid Yes, sometimes some statements are made here that don't really belong here, but never mind, tomorrow I'll post a list of the oldest (currently) known living people in Romania (106+) (again based on what's available in newspaper articles)...(everyone is free to say whatever he thinks to me, I am without character and without shame I don't get angry at anything, only positive)...

Romaina has now produced at least 11 108+ men (10 if we exclude Traian Grancea). Belgium produced 10 108+ men.

And while Romania produced 0 known, undoubtedly true female supercentenarians so far, Belgium produced 32!

Insane to think about this.

I think that, generally speaking, the higher the standard of living/healthcare, the disparity between male and female SCs increases. Male SCs don't seem to benefit from modern medical care anywhere near as much as female SCs, which is why I think there's been such a big increase in female SCs in countries like Japan over the past decade, but less-so for men. I imagine this is partially due to the fact that male SCs are rarer, so the bar for reaching 110+ is higher, causing them to be more likely to reach these ages regardless of medical care, since they're already massive outliers to begin with. This pattern should also hold true for 108-109 year olds.
