An anonymous woman (first name + prefecture of residence known) has recently celebrated her 109th birthday (full DOB known).

A woman from Takasaki, Gunma turned 110 in May (born May 1916). A 109-year-old woman from the same city born in December 1916 is also still alive (as of 31 May 2026).

A 112-year-old woman from Saitama prefecture died in late May 2026. She may have been the woman from Toda or Chichibu (but not from Iruma, confirmed alive on 1 June 2026).

6. Sagako Takano (高野さが子), F, 108, 1917.06.27 (lives in Yokkaichi) (per 1 September 2025)
She sadly passed away on April 21, 2026, at the age of 108. Following her death, the new oldest living person in the city is a 105-year-old woman.

According to the prefecture, he sadly passed away on June 13, 2026, at the age of 108.
With his death, 106-year-old Mr. Ichiji Saeki (佐伯一二) (b. 1919.11.26), of Mimata Town, has become the oldest living man in the prefecture.

I have also unofficially confirmed the existence of a woman who turned 112 on May 20, 2026. While it is possible that she is the same person as this woman living in Hokkaidō, there is no conclusive evidence.

Hiroshima Prefecture Announces Its New Oldest Resident

On 3 August, Hiroshima Prefecture (Japan) released updated official statistics on its oldest living residents. The announcement reported the deaths of the two most recent titleholders and confirmed the identity of the prefecture’s new oldest resident.

Misao Kobayashi of Hiroshima City, who had held the title of the prefecture’s oldest resident since the passing of Hisayo Nobuyasu in early 2024, died on 19 June at the age of 112 years and 235 days. She was born on 27 October 1913.

Following her death, the title passed to Kaoru Kodera of Fukuyama City, who was born on 25 November 1914. However, she passed away on 3 July at the age of 111 years and 220 days, having held the title for just 14 days.

Hiroshima Prefecture has now confirmed that its new oldest resident is Yukie Hata, also of Fukuyama City. She was born on 3 March 1915.

Hamamatsu City, Shizuoka Prefecture, has already released information regarding the city's OLP and others!
Two ages are listed in the document, but please refer to the actual age listed in small print below.
According to that, the oldest woman in the city is 109 years old, and her name is not disclosed. I believe this is likely Ms. Masako Wade (b. 1916.10.20), though I cannot say for certain.
The oldest living man is 108-years-old Mr. Masaichi Ichikawa (市川政一) (b. 1918.2.7) of Tenryū Ward. (Please note that the age listed for him in the document is a mistake. Taishō-7 corresponds to the year 1918.)

You really have a keen eye!
However, please take a look at Mr. Masaichi Ichikawa's date of birth and age.
For instance, although he was born on February 7, taishō-7 (It refers to the year 1918), the age ''actual age'' listed below is "107."

Upon reviewing the documents again, I found no inconsistencies regarding the actual ages and dates of birth of the other individuals.
This was due to an oversight on my part and an error in the city's records (regarding Mr. Masaichi Ichikawa's age). I apologize for the confusion.

Either this weekend, or the next. 🙂 I still find it a tad early, and we've basically only had two "real" reports so far. Hamamatsu is always early.

 

I see. I always enjoy following this time of year regarding Japanese centenarians. It would be great if other countries also followed Japan's example in celebrating the lives of their elderly.

The oldest woman in Tsuyama, Okayama as of 20 August 2026 is a 110-year-old woman (referenced in another centenarian's 100th birthday report; the pictures are of the 100-year-old's birthday celebration). Posted in the 2025 thread because it is not the official report for Tsuyama for September 2026.

Mrs Sotoe Hatano (波多野そとゑ) of Suzuka, Mie died around 19 August 2026, aged 109. She was born on 8 January 1917. The post seems to imply she was the oldest living resident in Mie prefecture at the time of her death, but I am not sure the funeral home is fully aware of the oldest living people in the prefecture.
