Ms. Marie Nielsen of Gesten, Vejen (DNK) sadly passed away on 13 June 2026 at the age of 109 years and 363 days.
She even received royal congratulations from Queen Margrethe and King Frederik, but unfortunately she did not make it to 110.
At the time of her death, she was the 4th OLP in Denmark.
Rest in peace.

When the young commander of the guard declared his love for her, she rejected him simply because his frivolity startled her. "See how simple he is," she told Amaranta. "He says that he’s dying because of me, as if I were a bad case of colic."

Marie Nielsen, a resident of Gesten, Vejen Municipality, Southern Denmark, passed away on 13 June, just two days shy of her 110th birthday, according to JydskeVestkysten.
Marie Nielsen was born in Odder, Jutland, Denmark, on 15 June 1916. In 1935 she moved to Staushede near Gesten. She married Herluf and had three daughters: Grethe, Jytte, and Marie.
At the time of her passing, she was possibly the fourth-oldest living person in Denmark, after Kirsten Schwalbe, Gerda Christensen, and Elisiette Jensen (possibly).
