World’s second oldest man and within two days of being the oldest.

Becoming one of Japan's 10 oldest men ever is an exceptional achivement. Not to mention he was the last Japanese man to have been born in the Meiji era.

May he rest in peace. 

While we don't officially have the decision, for now John Tinniswood is the 3rd oldest man in the world who is British, the first since Henry Allingham who was between 19 June 2009 and 18 July 2009, the oldest man in Japan is now born Shiro Yamazaki On 18 June 1913, he lives in Kanagawa and is only the 51st oldest person in Japan
Gisaburo is the 34th oldest man in history (validated), the 10th oldest man in the history of Japan (validated), Shiro is the 43rd oldest man in the history of Japan. Gisaburo was the oldest living person in Chiba, and 6 oldest in the history of Chiba, her successor is Yuki Okawa born on 11 Jul 1912. He was the 3rd born in Tateyama to be the oldest in Chiba, the previous one had been an anonymous woman born on 2 Jan 1909 and died in fl.1 Jan 2021, she was the oldest since 13 Oct 2020, spending around 80 days in the post, Gisaburo spent 132 days, before him the shortest time was by this anonymous person. Gisaburo surpassed the age of her predecessor in that position, but was below of the previous one, who died at +- 113 years old (Kaoru Kobayashi died fl.18 Jan 2022)He is the 170 oldest person in the history of Japan.675 oldest person in history.Gisaburo Sonobe was the oldest in Japan since 15 Nov 2022, (1 years, 136 days), longer than his predecessor Shigeru Nakamura (67 days), but less time than the previous Mikizo Ueda, (2 years, 18 days) He was the one who died at the oldest age since Chitetsu Watanabe who died at 112 years, 355 days on 23 Feb 2020, and was the first man from Chiba to be the oldest in Japan

This has been a horrible year for male SCs. It started off with a bunch of them dying in the first month, leaving the top three of JVPM, Sonobe, and Tinniswood which already seemed like a much younger group than we were used to. And then Juan Vicente, the oldest man of the last decade, left us, and just when it couldn't get worse, we found out his successor had already died two days before him

So many that you even forget to mention Francis Zouein. Not to mention that a bunch of the top 10 oldest men in the US has died this year
