It has been revealed that Ms. Misao Kobayashi, who was the oldest person in Hiroshima Prefecture, passed away at the age of 112 on June 19, 2026; subsequently, Ms. Kaoru Kodera (小寺カヲル) of Fukuyama City—who had become the prefecture's oldest resident—also passed away at the age of 111 on July 3, 2026.
She was born on November 25, 1914.
Upon her own passing, she was succeeded by 111-years-old Ms. Yukie Hata (畑 幸枝) (b. 1915.3.3) also of Fukuyama City.

She is the 16th oldest person in the history of Hiroshima.
Some facts about her time as the oldest person in Hiroshima:
Duration: She held the title for 14 days—the shortest period since Misako Omae's 35 days (July 15, 2016 – August 19, 2016).
Age: She died at 111 years, 220 days—the youngest age at death since Hisayo Nobuyasu (who died between September 16, 2023, and January 9, 2024, at an age between 110 years, 195 days and 110 years, 310 days).
Location: She was the fourth person from Fukuyama to be considered the oldest person in Hiroshima, and the first since Fusae Miyamoto, who died on April 27, 2023.
