Mary Euodia “Odie” Holloway Stanley, 111 years blessed, passed from her family to Jesus on Saturday, March 21, 2026. Odie was born on December 19, 1914, to the late Jabez Payne Holloway and Mary Eliza Hall Holloway.

She is preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Samuel Osborne “Billy” Stanley, and her siblings, Joe Holloway, Belle Satterwhite, Janie Morris, Verna Tyree, Herbert Holloway, and devoted niece, Alma Holloway Walton.

She is survived by her daughters, Betty Stanley Overbey, Carolyn “ Kakie” Stanley, and her son-in-law, JP Cormier. Also, her grandchildren Sean Overbey and Christina Cochrane, her husband Jerry, her great-grandchildren Hunter, Tanner, Taylor Cochrane, and Lilly Overbey. She is also survived by loving nieces and nephews and special "Grand Friends", the Wilkinson Boddie family.

Odie embodied what it meant to have a servant's heart. If she knew you, she would have prayed for you.

Odie was born in Beaverdam, Virginia, and married Billy, where together they established and operated S.O. Stanley Grocery and Meats & Auto Repair, and Stanley Hauling.

The family would like to thank the devoted caregivers at Westminster Canterbury Richmond for their loving care during her final years.

Relatives and friends are invited to Odie's visitation at Nelsen Funeral Home- Reid Chapel, 412 S. Washington Hwy, Ashland, VA 23005, on Monday, March 30, 2026, from 10:00 am until the time of the Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will be held at Trinity Church Cemetery, 18185 Teaman Rd., Beaverdam, VA, at 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Alzheimer’s Association for Research or the charity of your choice.

Virginia Woman Mary Stanley Dies at 111

Mary Euodia “Odie” Stanley, a resident of Virginia, USA, passed away on 21 March, at the age of 111 years, 92 days.

Mary Stanley was born in Beaverdam, Virginia, on 19 December 1914, to parents Jabez Payne Holloway and Mary Eliza Hall. She had five siblings, all of whom she outlived.

At some point, she married Samuel Osborne “Billy” Stanley, and the couple had two daughters, Betty Overbey and Carolyn “ Kakie” Stanley. They were married for 67 years, until his passing on 16 February 2008, aged 85. She married in her hometown, where she and her husband went on to establish and operate several businesses, including S.O. Stanley Grocery and Meats, an auto repair shop, and Stanley Hauling.
