Antonio Ardón Soto (2 September 1888 – 3 November 1998) was the first Costa Rican supercentenarian on record. One of his second cousins, Claudia Soto Saborio (1909–2020), would also later become the oldest living person in Costa Rica, reaching the age of 111.
I recently came across two articles written about him by La República: one from 1987 (aged 99), and another from 1998, shortly before his 110th birthday. His profile on LQ has now been updated with these photos added, as well as additional biographical details.
