Holocaust survivor Mr. Nicolaus Blättermann - of Stockelsdorf, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany - celebrated 105 years of life.
He was born on 1 October 1920 in Düsseldorf, Germany. When life changed in Germany, his family emigrated 1934 to Bessarabia, present-day Republic of Moldova, but finally in 1941 they all were deported into different camps, he never saw his parents and his sister Mirjam again. Mr. Blättermann survived several concentration camps and still returned to Germany, to the country that had taken everything from him. He looked forward, not back, and worked tirelessly for tolerance and reconciliation.
Happy belated 105th birthday to you, Mr. Blättermann!
