On 12 September 2025, Kanagawa Pr. (JPN) informed that the oldest living man in the prefecture is 108 years old.
This means that the supercentenarian man of Tsurumi Ward, Yokohama City who was born between 15 and 31 March 1914, became a limbo case.
He was last confirmed alive on 31 March 2025, aged 111.
He was the second oldest known living man in Japan after Mr. Kiyotaka Mizuno.

According to Japan’s latest 2025 Vital Statistics, this man is most likely a ghost case. I have suspected for quite some time that he might be a ghost case, because in prior years, several cases from Yokohama City appeared in the September edition of the “Status of Residents Aged 100 and Over in Yokohama City” statistics and in the Basic Resident Register, yet no matching records could be found among the death records in the Vital Statistics published by the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare. This kind of discrepancy has occurred multiple times in Tsurumi-ku, the ward where this man resides.
