Nice to see LQ kicking off! 😀

On a side note, does this mean we will no longer see new validations coming from the GRG and from LAS?

Overduidelijk misschien.

@marco I think GRG will continue its validations 113.75+ (living) and 110+ (deceased) with its slow validation rate.

As one of the few groups who ensured the validation process survived in recent years, I hope LAS keeps its identity and achieves full recognition for its validations.

It’s fantastic to see so many validations in 2023 both from LQ and from GRG. As someone who has followed SC’s since Kama Chinen was WOP in 2010, the validation rate reminds me of the “good old days” when an SC was validated on average once every 3 days. No body expects this of course, but it’s nice to see and congratulations to all those doing the hard work.

I have just a slight niggle which might be premature but I’ll throw it out there to see if anyone knows more. My question is will LQ validate European SC’s? None have been so far albeit it is early days.  Also, will LQ recognise the work of the ESO? Do the two groups collaborate?  Finally, why doesn’t gerontology wiki recognise the work of ESO or for that matter LAS?  Cheers Hoopy

@hoopy the ESO will not collaborate with LQ as is. Promises were made that weren’t kept. Perhaps in the future. The gerontology wiki is mostly run by people affiliated with the GRG.

@930310 Thanks for reply. This must be frustrating for all as we were hopeful LQ would unite all organisations under one unified authority. 😳

Ruth Apilado (USA) is advised as having been born on 30 April 1908 and passing away on 15 August 2021.

She is therefore the 402nd 113+ supercentenarian validated by any of the ESO, GRG, LAS and LQ.

As people may know she achieved reasonable fame in areas over and above her longevity.
