Chihiro Takaoka was born on 18 September 1912.
Her age was verified by MHLW, Japan, Yu Li, Ryohei Asano and Yumi Yamamoto, and validated by LongeviQuest on 20 September 2025.
As of 7 August 2026, she is the oldest living person in Hyogo pr. (JPN), 3rd oldest living person in Japan behind Ms. Kagawa (115) and Ms. Kishimoto (114), 11th validated oldest living person in the world.
As of 7 August 2026, she lives in Ashiya City, Hyogo pr. (JPN).
On 23rd August 2026, following the sad passing of Ms. Meingast, Ms. Takaoka became the World's 10th-oldest validated living person.
Topic moved to the Top 10 section.
On 27th August 2026, following the sad passing of Ms. Kagawa, Ms. Takaoka became the World's 9th-oldest validated living person.
It is possible that Chihiro Takaoka passed away on 11 September 2026, aged 113 years and 358 days.
Having seen pictures / a video interview of Mrs Takaoka when she was aged 109 (almost 110), I can confirm with certainty that the woman in the picture is not Mrs Takaoka. I do know who the woman is, though, and I also know the person having made the social media post is incorrect regarding said person.
Overduidelijk misschien.
@billy-robinson I read the Facebook post, which says "The 114-year-old supercentenarian woman who lived in the area where I resided 10 years ago passed away today. May she rest in peace."
My gut feeling tells me this could be the Anonymous of Setagaya case (born 14 May 1912), who went limbo earlier this year. She's the only SC that could have turned 114 this year. (The only other living 114-year-old in Japan is Fuyo Kishimoto, who was just visited, so I highly doubt she passed.)
@Marco Do we know who the person on social media was talking about?
The social media account responded to the newspaper article Livinnho referenced above, so they must have known it discussed Fuyo Kishimoto. As the article identifies her as the last person from the Meiji era and does so whilst discussing her life in the past tense, the poster probably wrongfully assumed she was deceased.
Overduidelijk misschien.
@phieaglesfan712 I don't think it's about the Anonymous woman of Setagaya (14 May 1912 - fl.1 March 2026) since the person on Social Media used the picture of Fuyo Kishimoto and mistakenly?? thought she had died.
On 15th September 2026, following the sad passing of Ms. Tiscornia, Ms. Takaoka became the World's 8th-oldest validated living person.
