Maria Branyas Morera was born on 4th March, 1907 in San Francisco, California.

Not likely, for the following reasons:

1. A search of the state of California's vital records returned no birth record supporting a 4th March 1907 birth.

2. The earliest publicly available records (an original baptismal certificate from 1908 and a delayed baptismal certificate for 1909) both record her date of birth as 1st April 1907.

3. I believe the earliest record supporting a 4th March 1907 birthdate is an ID card from 1979 (I might be wrong about this, but the earliest such record is certainly MUCH later than 1908).

Her status as the world's fourth-oldest validated living person is not in dispute, however.

@Chris GRG validated her birthdate as 4th March, 1907. I argue, reading your explanation, it's plausible her birthdate was actually 1th April, but at the moment it seems an unofficial information.

I believe something like what Marco wrote here would be safer: "She was born in San Francisco, California, USA, on 4 March 1907 (GRG) or 1 April 1907 (ESO)."

Which is why the ESO went with 1st April.

It would be inappropriate for me to comment on the  GRG's own independent validation. Suffice it to say, the earliest available record is generally the most reliable indicator of a date of birth. There is no birth record supporting 4th March and I doubt the existence of an earlier record than the baptismal certificates mentioned above.

Her face looks different from it was some months ago: the nose is a bit more prominent. I don't understand whether it depends on a recent weight loss or on an other factor.

@wellabove110 I think that we should refrain from commenting on the appearance of supercentenarians. It is extremely unprofessional.

It's ok @930310 , but why phrases such as "she sharply declined in the last months" are tolerated, while my phrase isn't? Mine, of course, wasn't an aesthetics-based comment; I was rather questioning (implicitly though) whether my observation was explainable by specific aging factors or it was just an incorrect and subjective impression.

Ms. Branyas Morera now is the 3rd oldest living person of the world and the Doyenne of Spain.

Following the sad passing of Mrs. Juniewicz, Mrs. Branyas Morera became the 2nd-oldest validated living person and the oldest validated living emigrant.
