Inah is the last validated living person who was alive while Afonso Pena (1906-1909) and Nilo Peçanha (1909-1910) were presidents of Brazil

Who is the oldest man in brazil?

There are at least three living 109 year old Brazilian men born in 1914 with documentation, but there are almost certainly older undocumented cases.

Who is the oldest man in brazil?

Gonçalino Norberto is currently the oldest known in Brazil born on 8/Aug/1911, lives in Vargem Bonita, Santa Catarina, but his case is doubtful, it seems that he increased his age by a few years to retire, as there is information from the census 1931 he was born in 1921, he being unmasked the oldest man in Brazil would be Josias de Oliveira, born on 21/oct/1911 in Bela Vista do Padre João, Goiás, (currently the city is called Tocantinópolis, state of Tocantins) and lives in Iporá, Goiás,But they are not validated yet

@metajore the oldest unvalidated man in Brazil is JDM, who is 115 and born on 13 March, 1908.

However, the oldest man is more likely Mr. Josias de Oliveira who is 111 and born on 21 October, 1911.

I do not know whether Mr. Oliveira is documented or what his status is, but I do know his case is much more likely than JDM.

If we're just going by unverified age claims, then Andrelino Vieira da Silva (b. 3 Feb 1901?) would be the oldest known man in Brazil, but this distinction doesn't really mean anything if the claimed ages are doubtful. Alvaro Jose de Souza (b. 14 Feb 1910) is reasonably plausible, in my opinion.

Very sad news to hear about Mr. Gonçalino Norberto:( I honestly believed he was 111, but I was however suspicious at how healthy and strong he seemed for an SC. Whether he is 111 or 101, he is still a very hard working man and a good person.

@mendocino yes but Andrelino is obviously not the age claimed. JDM however, is plausible. Maybe plausible would have been a better word for me to use.

I highly doubt that Gonçalino Norberto intentionally inflated his age, since he probably has never known his exact DOB due to being illiterate and not having a birth record. He also definitely wouldn't have done this to retire early, since, as far as I can tell, he still hasn't actually retired as of 2023. His family just goes with what DOB happens to be on his ID card from 1980 (8 August 1911).

I don't know if it was intentional or if it was to retire, but I received information that there is his name in the 1931 census saying that he was born in 1921.It could be someone else, but it's a very unusual name.

What about Mr. Abilio Borges Moreira (b. 9 September 1911)? He is still alive? Gerontology Wiki not included him, but he is mentioned in this topic as plausible. https://globalsupercentenarianforum.com/index.php/community/lists/100-oldest-verified-men/paged/2/#post-9184

Most of the lists that people publish here include only documented or partially documented cases.

The only exception I’m aware of is the list of 100 oldest men that I try and publish at the end of every month.

The reason for this is that the recent years of very few validations appears to have impacted the oldest men more significantly than the oldest women, because the former are typically about 3 years younger.

Even in these years a female candidate for the top 100 was likely to be validated because the entry point was around 114.5 years. But for men, many around 111+ were not completed.

That situation is improving and at some stage I’ll hope to exclude plausible cases from that list.

The Gerontology Wiki really needs to be updated, many names missing there, and that are plausible, or even applicant

Mrs. Maria Alaíde Menezes was visited and honored today, 29 September 2023, by the social security of the state of Sergipe as the oldest retiree in the state at the age of 111 years.
