This document mentions that Mrs Masa Matsumoto (松本まさ) of Yokohama, Kanagawa, aged 113, born on 29 November 1909, both LQ- and GRG-validated, will be visited by the mayor of the city on 13 September 2023. She is the oldest living person in the prefecture.

-- attachment is not available --

This is quite exciting news as there has been no photos of her since 2021. Hopefully she’s doing well

The oldest living person in Miyagi prefecture is 112-year-old Emi Miura (三浦ヱミ) of Sendai, who was born on 24 April 1911 (this is the first year her full date of birth was published). In addition to her, there are two 110-year-olds in the prefecture. This means that two out of last year's three 109-year-olds have survived, but at the moment we cannot yet determine who they are. As announced earlier, the mayor of Yokohama, Kanagawa would be visiting 113-year-old Masa Matsumoto (松本まさ), b. 29 Nov 1909, today. Pictures of that visit have been released, accompanied by statistics for the city. These reveal that:

- Next to Masa Matsumoto, there are two 112-year-old women in the city. One of these is Fuji Takashima (高嶋フジ), born 15 Aug 1911, presumably.

- There is also a 110-year-old woman residing in the city. This means that since 1 April 2023, one of the two late-1912/early-1913-born women has entered limbo.

- There are two 109-year-old men in the city.

Interestingly, 110-year-old Hisao Ikeda (池田久雄), b. 2 Nov 1912, is not present in the statistics. This could mean three things:

- He died between 1 September 2023 (when he was last inferred alive) and now (or at least between 3 August 2023, when he was last confirmed alive, and now);

- He has moved someplace else;

- The city may have overlooked him. (Yokohama city has more often shown discrepancies, so this is a likely scenario.)

In any case, Kanagawa prefecture still needs to release an official report, so more information on the oldest living man in the prefecture will appear within the month.

@marco and Ikeda was just validated by LQ in the last couple days so that’s further proof he’s alive. Hopefully he is not deceased. Was there a different man reported as oldest in the prefecture?

You had mentioned him in another post, the one talking about Masa Matsumoto. Of course, what we feared is in fact the reality. RIP Mr Ikeda

Is the lady in that photo Masa Matsumoto or someone else?

In hindsight, it turns out that the people who posted his interview on 1 September might not have known he had died by then...

I'm beginning to wonder if she is Mrs Matsumoto; the caption says that the mayor is photographed with the oldest persons in Yokohama - so not Mrs Matsumoto per se.

Fukuoka City reports that its oldest living person is a 112-year-old woman, who will still be 112 at the end of March 2024. This means that the oldest person in Fukuoka City (not prefecture!) from last year, born on 21 December 1910, has entered limbo. The new oldest person was born between 11 August and 15 September 1911.

In addition, there are one 111-year-old woman and two 110-year-old women also alive in the city.
