It would have been so nice if Kame and Kikue had both reached 114... but nevertheless, their combined age of 228.5 years is one of the greatest achievements among supercentenarians.

Rest in peace, dear Kikue Taira.

Rest in peace, Taira-san. Very sad news.

Interested in supercentenarians since 27 July 2018.
First supercentenarian I learned about: Kane Tanaka (1903-2022)

One wonders how many years or decades it may take to pass the combined record of these two siblings.

"At the time of her death, she was the oldest living person in Okinawa Prefecture."

This seems to imply Kame Uema has entered limbo?

Overduidelijk misschien.

One day ….

But this record (as someone said a few weeks back) is similar to Jeanne Calment’s lead in the individual age stakes.

So it could easily be 30 years before it is broken.

Rest in Peace, Mrs. Kikue Taira

It is very sad that she couldn't reach her birthday; 1910 is turning out to be somewhat like 1909 in terms of 114th birthdays. But it is crazy to think that this woman reached 113 years and 357 days and still is not the oldest child in her family
