While looking into Chester Meros, I noticed an interesting detail and decided to start a separate thread about it to see if anyone has other examples:
Baltimore is the birthplace of the oldest man in the US, and—until Chester Meros passed away—it was also home to the second-oldest living man. They actually lived in the same city; it’s intriguing to think they might have crossed paths at some point, perhaps even exchanged a few words. Ed was a firefighter at the Edgemere Fire Station (on the peninsula southeast of Baltimore), while Chester was a welder at the Bethlehem Steel Key Highway Shipyard (in the Locust Point area, right in the heart of Baltimore Harbor); they worked about 20 km apart.
They must have lived in the same city between 1943 (when Chester arrived in Baltimore) and 1964 (when Ed left).
Does anyone know of another case like this in a large country? I realize there might be examples in small countries—perhaps in the capital city—but even then, I imagine it’s not very common.
