I know the Gerontology Fandom site isn't always correct, but I did notice that there is at least 20 women (mostly from Japan) who claim to have been born in 1908, 1909 and 1910 that are currently living. Is it possible we may see some new validations of these 113+ women?

It is difficult to research these cases and find more information because most of these women are listed as "Anonymous", there are hardly any sources, and the sources that do exist are in languages that I cannot read. That would be amazing if we can see some of these women be validated in the future! 

Anyway, I'm happy to see some new SCs to be validated on this list! Keep up the good work everyone!

There's 0 Japanese claimants from 1908 alive.

There's 1 claimant from 1909 alive (Kame Uema) (or at least, was alive in Sept 2022, nine months ago), possibly 2 if the anonymous woman from Tokyo was born in late 1909.

There's 5 or 6 claimants from 1910 alive (anonymous women from Osaka (2x) Tokyo (2x, unless one of the two was born in 1909), Ibaraki (1x) and Yuko Sato from Akita prefecture).

And, apart from Yuko Sato, all these claimants were last confirmed alive in September 2022. And we all know many limbo cases stem from Osaka and Tokyo prefectures.

In other words: yes, the Gerontology Wiki is hopelessly outdated.

@marco aw that's a shame. I didn't even think that they could have been outdated. I was hoping for the possibility of at least one of the gerontology fandom cases to turn out true. I was surprised at how many cases from 1908-10 were listed, and I was a bit suspicious of it, but I had no idea that the website was that outdated. Thanks for the info.

Disappointing news to hear, but unfortunately the related ages are getting very big now, for candidates possibly born in those years.

That's interesting. Unfortunately I forgot to take a screenshot in time, but initially Waclaw Jan also reported a 2 March 1911 date of birth in the post that announced this validation. Seeing only Robert, Waclaw Jan, and Ollie are credited with the validation, one wonders what sources they have used to validate her age, seeing the Facebook post is the only online reference to her.

(I can trace back the marriage certificate used and a 1920 census for her husband as evidence to support the validation, but that's a reverse verification - what information was there to begin with?)

Well, her USPR supports 17 Jul and there doesn't appear to be any birth record. She's listed as 8 in 1920 and 18 in 1930, which both could support a birth in July rather than March.

It’s more like an 8 year delay on GRG validations now rather than 7.

@beaumont hole of about 7 years of validations (from June 28, 2015 to 2023) because in these 8 years they have about 1 year of validations and 7 years without validations.

Maybe a validation with a very low degree of confidence? In that case, yet another fault of GRG.
